Position Summary: Assemble bases for ottomans, chairs, barstools, dining chairs, etc.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Receives a finished, trimmed, upholstered furniture piece that needs a base to be assembled and applied to it.
  • Match acknowledgement number to box with base.
  • Inspect the bases to make sure of function ability.
  • Assembles the bases of finished, trimmed, upholstered furniture pieces.
  • Attach bun feet, legs, and bases to finished, upholstered furniture.
  • Understand and ensure assembly specifications are met.
  • Attach identifying tickets to furniture piece or mark them with identifying information.
  • Communicate with other departments ensuring completed assembly job.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work station; performs housekeeping daily.
  • Ensure area has needed supplies and tools; kept in assigned locations.
  • Wear required safety glasses, work shoes and other PPE as defined for work area; work safely and report unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.
  • Performs stretching exercises.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must have ability to learn quickly and recognize parts.
  • English required for reading tickets and job notes.
  • Must understand correct placement of parts, right/left sides, front/back.
  • Must be organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with others.

Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous knowledge of furniture assembly.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Lift / Carry: lift up to 50 lbs.; team lift greater weights.
  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Standing/Walking: Must be able to stand and walk 8+ hours.
  • Reach / Handle: Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, assembling and manipulating things.
  • Crouch/Bend/Stoop/Kneel/Crawl: Frequently required when inspecting and assembling a furniture item.
  • Tool Usage: Must be able to use staple gun, screw driver, pliers, and other tools for entire shift.
  • Push / Pull: Frequently moving furniture items on/off scissor lift or by sliding across floor.
  • Environment: Indoors, environmentally controlled - 100%.
  • Automation: Scissor lift, conveyor system, battery operated pallet jack used for positioning when needed.
  • Near Acuity: Requires close vison of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
  • Static Strength: The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
