Description
The Village of Flossmoor is accepting applications for the full-time position of Maintenance Worker with the Public Works Department. This position performs a variety of routine tasks in the maintenance and repair of public improvements. Tasks involve manual labor that requires the use of hand tools and the operation of light and heavy equipment. Work will involve the construction, demolition, installation and repair of water mains, sanitary sewers and storm sewers, as well as street maintenance, building, and grounds maintenance. The position works under the general supervision of the Streets and Buildings Supervisor, but may act as a lead worker on assigned tasks. The incumbent must work outside in all weather conditions and, when necessary, is required to report to work when off-duty or when assigned to overtime work, including snow plowing and water main break repairs.
The requirements of this position include:
- High school diploma (GED or equivalent)
- Current and valid Illinois Class "B" CDL (or capable of acquiring a CDL within six months of hire)
- Minimum of one year of experience in maintenance, construction or repair work on municipal infrastructure or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Upon being offered employment, the successful candidate will be required, as a condition of employment, to take and pass a physical exam, which includes a drug screening. All Public Works employees are subject to periodic, random drug and alcohol testing. This position is responsible for working approximately 40 each week with occasional overtime and weekend assignments. The expected salary range is $68,387-$85,484, and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. This position receives comprehensive benefits, including paid time off, sick leave, pension, medical insurance and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund system.
