Phlebotomy Technician (Contract Role)

Location: Saranac Lake, NY, 12983

Duration: 8 weeks

Shift: 8-hour Rotating Shifts (Day and Evening)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Weekly Pay Rate: $720 - $880; (Negotiable based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages
• Verify patient identity and ensure accurate labeling of specimens
• Maintain proper documentation and log all collections into the lab information system
• Ensure all specimens are transported and stored under appropriate conditions
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy stations and equipment
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with patients and staff
• Rotate between day and evening shifts as assigned
• Follow HIPAA and hospital regulations regarding patient information confidentiality

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Experience: Prior phlebotomy experience and a science background are required.
• Certification:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required).
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
