About the Organization: The Agricultural and Labor Program, Inc. (The ALPI) is a private, non-profit, community-based agency that provides services to migrants, seasonal farm workers, disadvantaged and disenfranchised children, individuals and families, in the State of Florida. The ALPI encourages the involvement of individuals served in decision-making processes affecting their lives. The ALPI was established in 1968 with five underlying principles that guides all its activities: Involvement of people, Emphasis on long term accomplishments rather than promises, Assurances of economic viability, Emphasis on self-help, and A sound, integrated, total systems approach. In conceptualizing the ALPI overall program, five main areas of activity continue to emerge: Employment and Income, Organization Development and Support, Housing, Community Relations and Support, Education, Health, Social Services. ALPI's Children and Family Services Division focus is on activities that enhance the process of providing developmentally appropriate early education activities including, but not limited to, health, nutrition, dental, mental health, parent information and referral on quality child care and health services programs. The ALPI is a certified Child/Adult Care Food Program agency. Through this program, ALPI provides nutrition and meal services for Head Start and Child Care Program participants and certifies private child care providers to participate in the program. Description: SUMMARY: Provides community development guidance and case management for clients in assigned counties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following: Serves as a case management specialist/social worker with a client population. Monitors, evaluates, and maintains community service network in ALPI service areas. Determines client eligibility for available services. Guides clients in the completion of applications and the collection of information necessary to verify qualification for services. Provides information to the public on the availability of programs and activities. Works with other community based organizations and entities in providing referral services and in the establishment of partnerships. Also assists in promoting proper outcomes of case management clients. Coordinates with field staff from other departments in assigned counties in order to share ways of improving services to the community. Collects and documents all developed resources and submits for data input. Enters client information into appropriate database(s) and updates said database(s) with service information, case notes, etc., as required by policy and/or practice. Prepares purchase requisitions and/or voucher/check requests for payment of eligible services and expenses. Maintains a weekly log of obligated expenditures per network site. Maintains documentation of contacts at each network site. Collects documents depicting the mission, operations, and purposes of various group and organizational partnerships. Maintains an allocated budget for Polk County from Director for expenditure. Responds to needs of network sites relative to the delivery of department services. Provides training to network sites within each county for an efficient delivery of services to clients. Establishes and maintains an information referral system in order to provide clients services that are currently available within the community. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: BA degree in Human Service or related field (psychology, sociology, human services) or an Associate's degree in human service discipline and two years' work experience in the field of social services; OR High School Diploma and four years related experience. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have valid Florida Driver License OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to input data into automated information systems. Must communicate effectively, orally and in writing; and possess good customer service skills. Must have working knowledge of program guidelines and requirements. Must have means of transportation.
