Crane Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Crane Operator is responsible for using the crane and other equipment to load and unload material in a safe and efficient manner.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production
  • Ability to safely operate Lattice Boom Crawler and Hydraulic Cranes to load and unload material
  • Operate other equipment / machinery and perform other job duties within the shop and yard
  • Transport materials using tractor trailer trucks
  • Inspect tools and equipment daily before use and maintain in good working order
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Prior experience in a similar role is preferred

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred

Crane Certification is required (NCCCO with TLL and LBC endorsements)

OTHER SKILLS

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to work effectively with others.

While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to see, talk, hear, use fingers/hands, handle/feel, reach with arms/hands. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Flexibility in hours worked and willing to work overtime is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position performs work in both the Fabrication Shop and Yard setting which includes a variety of working conditions. These include the following conditions: noise level fluctuations from moderate to high, use of personal protective equipment, machine/equipment use, etc. Position involves everyday risks or exposure to elements that require safety precautions. Position will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
