We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment. This role is essential in supporting students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors by ensuring facilities meet University cleanliness and safety standards. The Custodian will primarily be assigned to one campus building while also assisting with campus-wide needs during special events and peak times.
This position will work on 1st shift, 7:00 am-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Clean and maintain assigned areas, including entryways, hallways, stairwells, restrooms, shower areas, classrooms, and other facility spaces.
  2. Empty trash and properly dispose of waste and recycling.
  3. Perform deep-cleaning projects such as carpet cleaning and floor refinishing, particularly during summer or as assigned.
  4. Complete cleaning of vacated rooms or facility areas as needed.
  5. Assist with campus event set-ups and tear-downs, including Graduation, Homecoming, and other University events.
  6. Help maintain department-assigned vehicles.
  7. Keep work areas neat, safe, and organized.
  8. Collaborate with other departments and custodial staff as needed.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Building Services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  4. Valid driver's license and ability to be approved as a University driver.
  5. Ability to safely use cleaning tools and equipment (vacuums, mops, brooms, etc.) and climb ladders.
  6. Strong communication skills and a positive, respectful approach when interacting with students, faculty, and staff.

Additional Information
EDUCATION

High School Diploma.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Primarily assigned to one campus building, with occasional work in other locations during special events or peak seasons.
  2. Requires the use of cleaning agents and custodial equipment provided by the University.
  3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds comfortably.
  4. Work is performed indoors with some physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
  5. The Custodian reports to the 1st shift building services manager.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The salary for this position is $15.25 per hour.
