Are you a finance professional who thrives on turning complex data into actionable insights? We're looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to serve as the cost accounting leader for the Clintonville manufacturing facility driving accuracy, visibility, and strategic decision-making across operations.
In this role, you'll combine deep cost accounting expertise with cross-functional partnership to support plant leadership, improve financial performance, and drive continuous improvement. From leading month-end close to analyzing variances and influencing strategic initiatives, you'll play a key role in optimizing cost, profitability, and operational efficiency.
Accurate cost insight is essential to running a high-performing manufacturing operation. In this role, you'll provide the financial clarity and analysis needed to guide decisions, improve efficiency, and drive profitability helping the plant and broader organization operate smarter and more effectively.
The Impact You Will Make:
• Lead plant-level month-end close, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of inventory, materials, labor, and overhead costs
• Analyze manufacturing performance and financial results, preparing detailed variance analysis, profitability insights, and scenario modeling
• Own manufacturing variance analysis, investigating purchase price, material usage, labor, and overhead variances and driving corrective actions
• Ensure integrity of cost data and standards, reviewing and challenging costing structures, assumptions, and projections
• Drive continuous improvement in costing processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial visibility
• Partner cross-functionally to improve profitability, collaborating with Operations, Procurement, and Finance to identify cost savings and process improvements
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning, providing detailed cost analysis and financial modeling
• Develop product cost estimates and pricing support, maintaining cost grids, machine rates, and standards aligned to current operations
• Contribute to strategic financial discussions, participating in cost reviews and providing insights that influence business decisions
• Support capital investment and project analysis, evaluating CapEx opportunities and product profitability initiatives
• Provide financial guidance across teams, supporting Commercial Finance, Operations, Distribution, Planning, Maintenance, and BOM teams
• Support audit and compliance activities, ensuring strong internal controls and accurate financial reporting
The Essentials:
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in cost accounting or manufacturing finance, with demonstrated leadership of month-end close processes in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with an integrated ERP system
- Proficient Microsoft Excel user
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently
Optional but Impressive:
- Bachelors Degree
- Power BI experience
- LX experience
