Business Lending Program Assistant
Assist Director of Business Lending and AVP Business Loan Officer in all aspects of the Business Lending Program. Applicant should possess in-depth knowledge of the various business entity structures and the necessary documentation required for each as well as strong understanding of financial services and underwriting authority. Applicant should demonstrate exceptional decision-making capability, advanced time management skills and organizational abilities, and possess a clear understanding of commercial interactions. The applicant will be expected to contribute to discussions regarding system or process improvements, participate in annual procedure updates, new systems training, and cross train interdepartmentally to increase team efficiency.
This position will work closely with the Director of Business Lending, the AVP Business Loan Officer and Business Credit Analyst.
Essential Job Functions
- Business Products: Thorough knowledge of Business products / services & business entities including the collection of appropriate documentation.
- Business Lending & Processing: Thorough knowledge of business and consumer loan products. Assist with origination of business loan requests, collection of necessary documentation, and preparation of loan documents. Coordinate loan signing, funding, and disbursement. Meet with members to discuss products and services; open new accounts, process VISA applications and refer to third party partners, when applicable. Complete file preparation/organization, collect necessary documentation, order required reports including flood, environmental, UCC, preliminary title and credit reports, insurance binders and final title company reports.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Manage Annual Review process; requests for documentation, collection and follow up. Responsible for vendor and appraisal management. Scans file contents to Onbase for records management. Monitor and maintain various weekly business status reports. Follow-up on document requests to insure file completion.
- Business Development: Actively participate in developing business relationships in the community. Including the attendance at some public events as Chamber of Commerce, Service Organizations, etc.
- Membership: Communicate in professional manner to ensure member retention and provide excellent quality service.
- Compliance: Observe policies and procedures and all applicable laws & regulations to insure departmental adherence.
Other Basic Duties
- Respond to business inquiries and provide accurate information on Credit Union policies & procedures
- Actively participate in originating new business relationships within the community
- Maintain ongoing relationships with business members
- Perform duties in fast-paced environment while simultaneously and effectively managing and prioritizing workload
- Participate in an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork to maintain and improve staff relations
- Assist in the ongoing staff training in various areas of business lending
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

Minimum Qualifications
- Internal understanding of Credit Union philosophy
- Developed understanding of business loan products and required loan documentation
- Experience with UCC search and filings
- Knowledge of commercial loan compliance and regulation preferred (i.e., Reg Z, B, FIRREA and HMDA, etc.)
- PC proficiency with knowledge of Excel and Word
- Operational experience in new accounts, deposit products, consumer lending, etc.
- Loan Underwriting experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Keyboard proficiency; typing speed of 30 WPM
- Ability to read English by sight; and both speak and write English
- Ability to hear by telephone and in person

- Ability to logically analyze complex situations, to work under pressure while consistently producing accurate work
- Well-developed verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

- Physical: Office mobility required. Approximately 20% standing, 70% sitting, 10% walking, as need demands. Possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate standard office equipment including a computer or typewriter keyboard, 10-key calculator, facsimile machine, photocopier, and telephone. Other demands include talking, handling & reaching, seeing (corrected vision) and hearing in normal range. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. A telephone device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. Occasional light lifting. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Periodic inter-branch or interdepartmental access may be required, including for distribution and access to various materials, equipment, meetings, etc. Storage and retrieval of materials, maximum reach required is 84 inches.
- Mental: Mental effort required involving considerable organization, planning and analytical efforts with superior communication. General demands include alertness, memory, observation, empathy, ingenuity, learning ability, problem solving; patience; initiative; memory; objectivity, creativity, speaking ability, reading, and writing ability, judgment, persuasiveness, concentration, flexibility, precision, and auditory discrimination.
- Environmental: Minimal discomfort from heat, dust, air conditioning. The noise level is usually moderate, including external road noise. Transport within remote branch and/or main office/facility may be single or multilevel (as required) including a variety of stairways, elevators, etc. Exposure to computer and other electronic equipment. Lunch/break area exposed to microwave; and is in the basement at main office. Facility is 100% free of tobacco smoke.
- Equipment: Essential equipment used includes, but may not be limited to telephone, personal computer, other on-line computer terminal(s), calculator, and office security systems. Non-essential equipment generally includes paper shredder, photocopy machine, facsimile (fax) machine, etc.
