Position Purpose

The Accounts Payable Associate provides support to the Finance Department through processing payables and the maintenance of accounting documents.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates accounting practices and recordkeeping in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Reviews, verifies, and processes vendor invoices for accuracy and proper coding and authorization
  • Codes and enters high volume accounts payable information
  • Prepares and processes check runs and electronic payments
  • Reconciles vendor accounts and resolves outstanding balances and discrepancies
  • Monitors payment schedules to ensure timely disbursements and avoid late fees
  • Collaborates with purchasing and receiving departments to resolve invoice disputes
  • Assists with month-end and year-end close by reconciling accounts payable records
  • Maintains relationships with internal/external customers and vendors as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and implement best practices
  • Experience with AP automation is a plus
  • Flexible/non-traditional schedule may be required
  • Performs other necessary functions as assigned

Qualifications Preferred

Knowledge

  • 1-3 years related experience in finance, accounting, or related field; AP experience preferred
  • Associate's degree in accounting or finance a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft BC365 is a plus
