Group 1 Automotive, Inc., an international, Fortune 250 automotive retailer and a leading operator in the automotive retailing industry, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Payroll Business Analyst to join our team.

We are seeking a Senior Payroll Business Analyst to lead and deliver complex, large-scale payroll initiatives across the organization. The Senior Payroll Business Analyst will collaborate closely with and complement the existing Payroll Analyst by adding senior-level project leadership, structure, and governance to payroll operations.
The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of project management rigor, payroll domain knowledge, and cross-functional communication skills, and is comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels. This role will manage multiple concurrent payroll projects, partner closely with stakeholders, Payroll, HR Shared Services (HRSS), IT, and external vendors, and serve as a key escalation point to ensure successful outcomes.
This is a high-impact opportunity to bring senior-level project leadership to Group 1 Automotive's Payroll Services department as it continues to grow in scale and complexity. The role offers strong visibility, clear ownership, and the ability to shape how payroll projects are delivered across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Program Implementation - Roll out corporate EHS programs and ensure dealership compliance with safety standards
- Field Leadership Support - Act as the go-to EHS resource for Market Directors, General Managers, Service Directors, and Fixed Ops leaders
- Training & Coaching - Deliver safety training and toolbox talks; coach on-site leaders on leading safe behaviors
- Audits & Inspections - Conduct site audits and job hazard assessments; ensure timely closure of action items
- Incident Response - Support incident investigations and root cause analysis; track corrective actions
- Data & Reporting - Submit TRIR, LTIR, and vehicle incident data; support data quality and dashboard inputs
- Contractor Oversight - Ensure vendor safety compliance during facility work, construction, or maintenance
- Culture Building - Promote safety campaigns and recognition; share best practices across regions. Ability to understand and connect with people, build trust, and mediate disputes to foster a collaborative environment
- Team Management - Manage EHS Administrators daily activities and performance
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading complex payroll projects in a corporate or enterprise environment.
- Strong project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Demonstrated ability to manage escalations, make informed decisions, and drive accountability.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and translate technical concepts for varied audiences.
- Background in payroll transformation, system implementation, or process standardization efforts.
- Familiarity with Workday Payroll or OneSource Virtual (OSV) is a bonus.
- Project management certifications are considered nice to have, (PMP, PMI-ACP, PgMP, etc.)
