Position Overview

This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of automatic and manual door systems within a healthcare facility located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. The technician will work under general supervision to ensure all door and locking mechanisms operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
  • Independently maintain and repair door hardware and locking systems, including troubleshooting electronic and keyed combo locks.
  • Use hand tools, cutting tools, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to repair door frames and units.
  • Create various types of keys and perform minor carpentry tasks such as cutting holes for new locks on wood doors.
  • Install, service, and repair automatic door opening and closing mechanisms, including electronic-eye operated systems.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and organize technical manuals.
  • Manage equipment inventory and order necessary parts following facility policies.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and assist with daily shop operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and maintain clean, debris-free job sites.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role, preferably within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience with automatic doors, electronic locking systems, and related hardware.
  • Proficiency with hand and cutting tools, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for keyed and electronic locking systems.
  • Familiarity with computer-based key tracking systems and diagnostic software.
  • Knowledge of safety codes and standards related to door and locking systems.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to cut keys manually and re-key locks (Russ Corbin 77 - 6 pin keyway system).
  • Ability to work independently and lift up to 100 lbs.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Licenses

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Locksmith registration with the state consumer affairs department preferred.
