FLSA-Hourly-12 month position - Full Time 40 hours per week

Job Title: Custodian

QUALIFICATIONS:

• One year experience in custodial work preferred.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions, both written and oral.
• Ability to perform physical activities which may include: walking, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling or lifting. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow workers and other school staff.
• HS Diploma or GED

  REPORTS TO: Facilities Supervisor

  JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable and clean environment in which to learn, play and develop.

  JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain assigned area of school building neat and clean.
• Cleanup of sidewalks and grounds as assigned.
• Classrooms including chalkboards, dusting and emptying trash receptacles.
• Scrubs, mops, disinfects, and polishes hard surfaced floors in restrooms, cafeteria, hallways, classroom, as required.
• Vacuums and clean carpeted areas on a regular schedule.
• Move furniture and equipment for cleaning and special events.
• Light maintenance such as changing light bulbs and informs principal or supervisor of other needed maintenance.
• Wash windows.
• Reports immediately any vandalism or damage to school property.
• Assumes responsibility for the security of his/her assigned area__all doors and windows locked and lights turned off.
• Maintains a necessary inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
