8th Grade Language Arts Teacher

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Eighth Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our educational team for the 2026-2027 school year.

Essential Functions:

- Teach English to 8th Graders

- Prepare and deliver presentations on topics such as poetry, novel structure, grammar and usage, and effective writing styles

- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs and interests

- Initiate, facilitate and moderate classroom discussions

- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students

- Prepare course materials such as plans, homework assignments, and handouts

- Prepare, administer, and grade tests, papers and other assignments in order to evaluate students' progress

- Maintain students attendance records, grades and other required records

- Communicate professionally with parents and colleagues

- Manage classroom behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment

Physical Requirements:

Works in a fast paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines

Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs

Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment

Works intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
