Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Patient Access Clerk in the emergency department, working part-time to facilitate patient admissions, pre-admissions, status updates, and transfers. This role is essential in ensuring smooth patient flow and exceptional customer service within a regional healthcare setting in the Central Plains of the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and verify all necessary demographic and insurance information to admit or pre-admit patients, adhering to state and federal regulations with a high accuracy rate.
- Coordinate with financial counselors regarding private pay or uncertain insurance cases.
- Distribute admission paperwork promptly to relevant departments and staff.
- Assist with patient transport as needed, serving a diverse patient population from newborns to the elderly.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA privacy and security standards concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Collect co-pays, coinsurance, and deductibles according to insurance eligibility and contracts, and manage patient payments and daily deposits.
Education and Experience
No formal education or experience is strictly required; however, familiarity with medical terminology and prior clerical or computer experience is preferred.
