Accounting Finance Specialist

The Accounting Specialist processes daily cash, check, ACH, and credit card transactions and posts them accurately into the accounting system. This role prepares and enters monthly contract billing, maintains and reconciles billing worksheets, applies state contract payments, and follows up on payment discrepancies.

Major Responsibilities
Cash Applications

• Receive daily check and cash deposit batches, transmit deposits to the bank, and record transactions in the accounting system
• Download daily ACH transactions from the bank and prepare related journal entry worksheets
• Process and record credit card transactions
• Assist in the preparation of cash transaction reports for the outsourced billing vendor

Contract Billings

• Prepare and enter monthly billing for state contracts and the Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART)
• Assist with entering billing into the accounts receivable module of the accounting system
• Maintain contract revenue worksheets by recording billings and payments
• Work with program staff to obtain and troubleshoot attendance or service unit data
• Apply ACH deposit payments related to state contracts in the accounting system
• Review and analyze state accounts receivable balances and communicate payment discrepancies to the contract manager

Other Duties

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Education and Experience

• Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance with experience in general accounting functions, or equivalent experience

Scheduled Hours

Monday through Friday 8 am - 4 pm

Target Salary

The approximate pay range for this role $28 - $30 per hour
