SALARY:
Starting at $17.40/hr. ($18.54 after probation)

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma with advanced office training or 3-5 years experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven excellent attendance & punctuality record
- Ability to use a major word processing program efficiently
- Experience with the Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.)
- Knowledge of correct grammar and spelling
- Knowledge of business telephone etiquette
- Ability to communicate empathetically and effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to move physically throughout the work environment
- Responsible and self-motivated
- Ability to focus on tasks in a distracting environment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to the Director of Special Education
- Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all confidential material
- Responsible for monitoring ESA budget
- Responsible for preparing and writing routine correspondence, and reports for Special Education, Transition and Vocational Programs
- Make necessary meeting arrangements (i.e., schedule meetings, room reservations, etc.)
- Participate on KRESA committees for updating special education forms
- Responsible for attending meetings regarding Individual Educational Planning Meetings, Medicaid, and monthly registry meetings
- Responsible for provider reports and queries
- Responsible for forwarding records to requesting schools and Social Security
- Responsible for accurately filing all center based IEPs, RXs for Speech/OT/PT, Medicaid Reports and staff filing
- Responsible for counts (currently Sept. 3WIN, Feb. and June)
- Responsible for maintaining IEPs and METs for the service area
- Responsible for level changing all students in the ESA on Tienet for the next school year
- Responsible for preparing and providing caseloads and forms needed to teachers for the beginning of the new school year
- Responsible for having Tienet current to date for all count days
- Responsible for training staff in the use of PCG Medicaid logging and providing support to staff when logging Medicaid
- Responsible for following up with staff on overdue Medicaid logging
- Responsible for providing transportation supervisors with student data for setting up their special education routes at the beginning and throughout the school year
- Responsible for providing transportation communications and school calendars for all districts we transport students to throughout the year
- Responsible for setting up individual transportation contracts with parents, taxi cabs, and ambulances, etc.
- Responsible for coordination of special transportation for year round students at WoodsEdge and students receiving extended school year.
- Receive and place phone calls and record all messages, screens calls
- Responsible for maintaining a filing system and process incoming correspondence as instructed
- Responsible for completing temporary placements and verifying student information
- Responsible for assisting in the accurate completion of state required forms and reports
- Personnel Inventory (responsible for having on file and requesting current certificates and temporary approvals) for special education staff
- Responsible for providing direct communication to other secretaries and individuals within the nine (9) school districts of Kalamazoo/RESA
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
