Description
Chief Medical Information Officer
The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is responsible for supporting the development of clinical information systems that assist in the delivery of patient care and research. The CMIO will participate as a member of various leadership committees in representing the needs and requirements of the physician community and will serve as an advocate of administration in promoting the use of information systems in the clinical setting. The position will work in partnership with IT and relevant committees to translate clinical requirements into specifications for new clinical documentation systems. Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and within the policies and procedures of TCRHCC the CMIO is a physician leader responsible for the coordination and development of clinical information technology in the inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community setting to support the delivery of patient care. The CMIO will promote the use of information systems analytics in the clinical setting to improve safety, quality, efficient care delivery, and adherence to regulatory and compliance guidelines. Manage physician and APP team of provider informaticists including direction and assignment of testing, training, template building and professional development activities.
Qualifications
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
Education: MD/DO from an accredited school of medicine. A graduate degree in medical informatics and/or two (2) years of work experience in medical informatics systems as a champion or executive staff leader in the implementation of a hospital enterprise-wide clinical information system is preferred. Board Certified in their specialty with a history of at least five (5) years of clinical practice in a hospital setting, including experience in clinic-based ambulatory care.
Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years' experience in clinical practice and/or five (5) years' experience as Medical Director in a progressive healthcare administration management experience in a large complex health care organization or hospital system. Clinical and Medical Director Experience may be concurrent.

A good grasp of clinical workflow in both inpatient and outpatient settings, interest in clinical information systems and outcomes measurement. The ability to develop flexible, transferable models for pathways of care. Strong leadership abilities with a mature sense of priorities and solid practical experience and ability to design and implement systems within the framework of technical boundaries. A high tolerance for ambiguity and ability to work successfully in a matrix management model. Systematic thinking with strong organizational skills and the ability to deliver on time and within budget. Strong management skills, with adaptability and a strong collaborative management style, creative thinking with high energy and enthusiasm, and ability to be a team player who promotes the concepts of people working together versus individual performance. A thorough understanding of major trends in healthcare, healthcare regulatory environment, managed care, and familiarity with point of care products and medical informatics trends and tools.
