General Summary
The Patient Services Representative is responsible for ensuring smooth patient flow and delivering courteous, professional assistance to all patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Warmly greet patients and assist with their needs in a respectful manner.
- Register patients by collecting complete demographic and insurance information accurately.
- Enter patient data into the system with minimal errors and collect co-pays as required.
- Answer telephone calls promptly, triage patient inquiries, and communicate patient care needs with clinical staff.
- Manage incoming referrals by gathering necessary records, films, and orders for appointments.
- Scan and organize patient documents and charts efficiently.
- Schedule and track patient appointments, including obtaining authorizations when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to complete work queues in EPIC and correct identified errors.
- Complete all assigned tasks within established timeframes.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference given to graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or candidates with two years of healthcare experience.
Experience
At least two years of medical clerical experience in an office setting preferred, including proficiency with word processing and personal computing. Experience with medical insurance processes is a plus.
Certification/License
No certification or license required.
Mental and Physical Requirements
Requires close mental and visual attention for extended periods. Must be able to work under stressful conditions and transport oneself throughout the facility. Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, carrying or lifting up to 10 pounds, turning, pushing, pulling, and stooping.
Working Conditions
May be exposed to infectious diseases, unpleasant odors, and noisy environments due to equipment and high traffic areas.
