Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients courteously and assist with their needs in a respectful manner.
  • Register patients by accurately collecting demographic and insurance information.
  • Enter data into electronic systems with precision, minimizing errors.
  • Collect co-payments and handle telephone inquiries promptly, triaging calls as necessary.
  • Coordinate communication between patients and clinical staff to support care delivery.
  • Manage incoming referrals, gather necessary records, and organize patient appointments.
  • Scan and maintain patient documents and track authorizations when required.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete work queues efficiently using EPIC software.
  • Address and correct identified errors in patient records and processes.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have graduated from an accredited medical receptionist program or possess at least two years of experience in a healthcare setting.

Experience

Two years of medical clerical experience in an office environment is preferred, especially with skills in word processing and personal computing. Experience with medical insurance processes is also advantageous.

Requirements

No specific certifications or licenses are required for this position. The role demands close mental and visual attention for extended periods and the ability to work under stressful conditions due to customer demands. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, sit, and carry or lift items up to 10 pounds, as well as perform movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, and stooping.

Working Conditions

The work environment may involve exposure to infectious diseases, unpleasant odors, and noise from equipment in a busy, high-traffic area.
