Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Midwest region as an Advanced Certified Medical Assistant. This full-time, day-shift role offers the opportunity to provide essential patient care within a fast-paced clinical environment. You will work closely with licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers to ensure high-quality, compassionate care.
General Summary
As a Medical Assistant, you will perform delegated clinical tasks including obtaining vital signs, conducting EKGs, verifying medications and allergies, and documenting patient histories. You will serve as a vital link between patients and providers, managing communications, assisting with medication renewals, and performing point-of-care testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to patient safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
- Escort patients, collect clinical data, and document accurately in patient charts.
- Manage phone communications, relay messages, and assist with patient follow-up calls.
- Administer medications as ordered and perform lab specimen collection.
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and complete necessary authorizations and referrals.
- Maintain exam room supplies and assist with patient education on electronic health records.
- Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.
- Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and professionalism under pressure.
Education
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is mandatory.
Experience
At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist is preferred. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.
Certification and Licenses
Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited organization such as AMT is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, and various movements such as stooping and reaching. Exposure to infectious diseases and communicable fluids is common, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
