Title: Senior Services Aide Job Summary: KCEOC is seeking qualified individuals to fill one part-time position for Senior Services Aide. The Senior Services Aide is responsible for various roles including primarily homemaker and non medical personal care services. Secondary roles are delivering and serving meals; transporting seniors and other services available through the Knox County Senior Citizens Center.

Job Summary: The Senior Services Aide performs duties of light housekeeping tasks, chore and escort for eligible persons having difficulty with sensory and/or motor functions interfering with activities of daily living. The Senior Services Aide provides personal care assistance for eligible persons having difficulty with sensory and/or motor functions interfering with activities of daily living. The Senior Services Aide is responsible for helping package and delivering meals to the homes of the elderly. The Senior Services Aide provides transportation for the elderly as assigned. The Senior Services Aide provides care for eligible persons for a designated period of time because of absence or need for relief of those normally providing the care. A person in this position answers to the Senior Services Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform light housekeeping duties in the homes of the elderly. Duties may include normal daily or weekly household cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, emptying garbage, cleaning bath tubs, toilets, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, making beds, laundry, shopping for clients, paying bills and writing letters etc...
  • Provide heavy household cleaning that is not done on a daily basis such as washing of walls, cleaning interior of oven, cabinets, refrigerator, etc...
  • Assist client with personal care activities, including but not limited to: bathing (bed, sponge, tub, or shower bathing), dressing or undressing, grooming (oral hygiene, caring for nails and skin, shaving, etc...), as well as bowel and bladder care. Make the occupied or unoccupied bed. Clean tub, shower or sink after bathing client. Clean urinals or bedside commodes.
  • Provide escort for the client to a community resource.
  • Accurately document services provided to the client and submit records on a timely basis.
  • Assist client with transfers, ambulating, positioning, and adaptive equipment.
  • Assist client with meals, including cooking, feeding, and washing dishes.
  • Recognize emergency situations and implement emergency procedures when indicated
  • Observe, report and document changes in client status promptly to director
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions in the delivery of service to clients.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients and their records at all times.

Qualifications

Experience working with the elderly and/or special needs populations is required. A food handler's card must be obtained after hire. The services provided by the aide must meet the requirements set forth by the Administration for Community Living and the Kentucky Department of Aging and Independent Living. Applicants must have a minimum of high school diploma or GED, a valid Kentucky driver's license, basic mathematics skills, good communication skills, computer and record keeping skills. Applicants must pass a background check, TB Skin Test and assist in other duties within the program if needed. Applicant must be able to perform heavy lifting and have the ability to drive a delivery vehicle. The pay rate for the position is $14.00 per hour and the position averages around 23 hours worked per week.
