JOB TYPE

JOB SUMMARY

Performs and or assists in transporting of patients of all ages from UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper to other health care facilities, nursing care facilities or residence with qualified personnel as mandated by the patient's condition. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or GED Required Experience: 1 year of related work experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: EMT-Basic. Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC). Valid Driver's License - must produce acceptable DMV driving record. AHA BLS.

Additional Skills/Requirements Required Must remain calm and organized in emergent situations. Must be available for rotating shifts as required. Must have keen sense of responsibility, ability to make decisions, and work independently. Must have good judgment. Must have basic computer knowledge. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interact effectively with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical Demand Code: 10A, Emergency Medical Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally. For any weight over 35 lbs. use Safe Handling Equipment.
