What You Should Know About the Ambulatory Specialist Role:

  • 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday
  • May require an adjustment of schedule to accommodate departmental need.
  • This position is based within Jefferson Regional
  • In this unique setting, daily interactions with a diverse clientele, including hospital staff, physicians, and visitors, are expected.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Clinical Applications Manager, the Ambulatory Specialist is responsible for providing support for Ambulatory Care and Practice Management software product(s) and other applications assigned (for external and/or internal customers). This position provides ongoing support for configuration, design, implementation and troubleshooting for the Ambulatory Care/Practice Management applications and suite of products and related systems; and performs other duties as assigned.

Ambulatory Specialist Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science, Information Management or other related Computer/Technology/Systems preferred.
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • 2–4 years of experience in a healthcare setting using information technology.
    • Experience with EHR/PM systems, clinical workflows, registration, insurance verification, medical billing and coding, and charge capture.
    • Good communication and analytical skills required at all customer service levels.
    • Strong familiarity with electronic documentation systems
    • Proficient in troubleshooting technical issues related to software
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Proficient in electronic documentation systems and/or in their use for outpatient care
    • Proficient troubleshooting technical issues related to clinical software
    • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards preferred.
    • IT, Health Information Management, or related field preferred.
