General Summary
The Appointment Coordinator plays a vital role in managing patient interactions, assisting with staff mentoring, and supporting the business office by discussing outstanding account balances. This position requires a professional demeanor and a commitment to patient satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support call center operations to boost patient satisfaction and increase appointment volumes through excellent customer service and technology use.
- Maintain a positive and professional image during phone interactions, handling distressed callers with patience and empathy.
- Resolve patient concerns by identifying issues, explaining solutions, and escalating complex problems when necessary.
- Contribute to team goals by completing related tasks and continuously updating job knowledge through educational opportunities.
- Ensure office equipment like printers and fax machines are operational by following procedures and reporting issues.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred candidates will have graduated from an accredited medical receptionist or similar program or have two years of experience in healthcare or customer service.
Experience
At least two years of experience in a general medical office or call center environment is required. Clinic experience is preferred.
Certification/License
Medical secretary or other medical technician/specialist certification from an accredited program is preferred.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate detailed information clearly, read and understand written directions, and work effectively in a busy contact center environment. Strong computer skills and a minimum typing speed of 60 wpm are necessary. Knowledge of medical terminology and scheduling is advantageous. Occasionally lifting items up to 10 pounds and safely operating a vehicle are required.
