General Summary
As an Appointment Coordinator, you will manage patient appointment scheduling, assist with mentoring new staff, and handle patient account inquiries to support the medical business office. Your efforts will contribute to a smooth and efficient call center operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support call center operations to increase patient appointments and improve customer relationships using technology and communication skills.
- Project a professional and positive image during phone interactions, handling distressed callers with patience and empathy.
- Resolve patient concerns by identifying issues, explaining solutions, and escalating when necessary.
- Contribute to team goals and continuously update job knowledge through educational opportunities.
- Maintain office equipment functionality by following procedures and reporting issues.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred candidates will have graduated from an accredited medical receptionist or similar program, or have two years of experience in healthcare or customer service.
Experience
At least two years of experience in a general medical office or call center environment is required. Clinic experience is preferred.
Requirements
- Certification as a medical secretary or other medical technician/specialist from an accredited program is preferred.
- Strong oral communication skills and ability to understand detailed information.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy contact center environment with distractions.
- Excellent computer skills and minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and scheduling preferred.
- Ability to occasionally lift and transport items up to 10 pounds and safely operate a vehicle.
