Athletic Fitness Instructor

The City of Reidsville is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Athletic Fitness Instructor to lead engaging group exercise classes for our community. The Athletic Fitness Instructor will lead two 1-hour group fitness classes per week, creating a positive, safe, and motivating experience for participants of all fitness levels. This role is ideal for someone who brings energy, creativity, and a commitment to community wellness.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan and lead engaging, safe, and effective group fitness classes
  • Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and provide clear, easy-to-follow instructions
  • Offer modifications and progressions to meet a variety of fitness levels and abilities
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging class environment
  • Monitor participants to ensure safety and proper form
  • Prepare and maintain a clean, organized workout space before and after each session

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Experience leading group fitness classes or personal training sessions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate, engage, and connect with a diverse group of participants
  • Working knowledge of exercise safety, proper technique, and injury prevention

Preferred qualifications:

  • Current certification in group fitness instruction or related field (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM)

Schedule:

  • Two (2) days per week
  • One (1) hour per class

Special requirements:

In accordance with North Carolina law, this position may involve interaction with youth participants. Final candidates will be required to successfully complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check through the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Please note: this process may extend the hiring timeline by approximately 2–4 weeks.
