Bus Driver
Salary Grade: $21.19 - $23.14 Work Year: 154 Days Status: Nonexempt Reports To: Director of Transportation
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the transportation of students to and from schools, and in various District activities. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Drive safely and efficiently a prescribed route.
- Responsible for pre-trip and post-trip inspections; i.e. insuring that all equipment, instruments, and safety devices operate properly.
- Responsible for making every reasonable effort to establish and maintain positive and pleasant relationships with student riders.
- Maintain proper student control at all times.
- Responsible for a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations prescribed by the State of Colorado as they pertain to pupil transportation, as well as, the policies and regulations of the school district.
- Must be on time and not change stops or time without authorization from the Director of Transportation.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Keep accurate records and turn in reports in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for keeping the bus clean at all times.
- Responsible for leaving a full tank of fuel for use the following day.
- Performs other duties as requested.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High School Diploma/GED preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Less than one (1) year job related experience. Must be twenty one (21) years of age.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Sign off on driving record being entered into the Nationwide Clearing House required.
EXPECTATIONS: Is flexible. Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers. Has the ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. Has the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision. Has the ability to effectively communicate with the school and school District community as well as the public at large. Has the ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Maintains a generally positive attitude. Observes all District policies and procedures.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver's License. Ability to obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL). First Aid and CPR certified. Motor vehicle report - Must have excellent driving record (no more than 2 moving violations in the last 12 months; no more than 3 in the last 3 years).
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing these job duties, the employee may be exposed to some dust and dirt, fumes and odors, noise, temperature extremes, and/or potentially hazardous situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit with frequent reaching. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
