Description

Bus Driver

Provide safe transportation for district students to and from various destinations.

Operate vehicle responsibly at all times.

Complete inspection of the school bus as prescribed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania including clearing obstructions and wiping lenses of lights. Reports all irregularities to the yard person.

Maintain student discipline on the bus according to school bus rules. Reports infractions to the Building Principal and the Director of Transportation.

Maintain school bus routing schedule.

Safely operate all equipment provided within a school bus, including all doors, windows, emergency equipment, radios, read and understand gauge indicators, operate standard shift and automatic transmissions, exc.

Attend in-service workshops and other department meetings scheduled by the Director of Transportation.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Ability to work in an external environment subject to temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees

May be exposed to atmospheric conditions that include fumes and dust

Must be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented

Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions

Ability to follow written and verbal directions

Ability to read and write

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to organize tasks

Ability to exercise good judgment

Ability to read and understand maps

Ability to work well with students

You MUST have a valid Pennsylvania CDL Driver's License with Passenger (P) and Student (S) endorsement with air break restriction lifted. Willing to train a PA CDL Driver's License holder for (S) and (P) endorsement and air break restriction lifted.

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Driving record must be free of tickets and accidents.

Ability to reach above and below the waist

Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects

Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion

Ability to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, climb, and crawl

Ability to lift/carry supplies weighing 50 lbs. or more

Ability to drive up to eighty percent (80%) of workday

This position's salary is determined by the collective bargaining plan for Support Staff employees. The starting salary for this position is $27.41/hour. After the completion of the 90-day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $27.91/hour.
