About Maine School Administrative District No. 33

Maine School Administrative District No. 33 serves students in grades PreK-12 in St. Agatha, ME, home of the Long Lake Fishing Derby, one of the largest fishing derby's in the state!. The district has two (2) schools under one roof, Wisdom Middle/High School and Dr. Levesque Elementary School, a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School. The district is also home to the St. John Valley Technology Center, serving students from MSAD33, MSAD27, and the Madawaska School Department.

Position Function:

The ideal candidate will operate a School Bus and be available for before school trips, after school trips, potential field trips, and various other day trips. We are open to working with various schedule types.

Essential Functions

  • Obeys all traffic laws.
  • Observes all rules and safety regulations for the safe operation of school buses and is a defensive driver.
  • Is a courteous driver and allows traffic to pass the bus whenever it is safe to do so.
  • Checks the bus before each operation for mechanical or electrical defects and notifies Administration of any maintenance problems.
  • Enforces all rules and regulations and maintains discipline by following the established disciplinary procedure.
  • Keeps to the assigned schedule whenever possible while making certain that all speed limits and regulations are strictly followed.
  • Exercises responsible leadership while driving.
  • Assists in supervising students throughout trips and remains with students both on and off the bus.
  • Reports all accidents and completes all required reports within established time limits.
  • Keeps the assigned bus clean by sweeping it daily and washing the interior and exterior as required.
  • Follows all established safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus.
  • Covers other bus runs as assigned and works as a team member.
  • Interacts pleasantly with the public, students and staff and provides assistance as indicated.

Additional Duties

  • Performs general cleaning, and repair work, particularly during school vacations.
  • Assists parents and other visitors to school buildings with special events and programs.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel between schools, or between schools and central office, may be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Valid Class B CDL
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Maine Background Check (CHRC)

  • Endorsement P (Passenger)
  • Endorsement S (School Bus)
