Description

Bus Driver Duties and Responsibilities:

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
• Extensive contact with residents of a senior living community
• Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
• Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
• Securing residents' mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
• Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
• Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
• Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, fluid levels, tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

Bus Driver Qualifications and Skills:

• Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
• Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
• Ability to find geographic locations
• Ability to follow oral/written instructions and keep a record of activities
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
• Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus

Full Time: 30 - 36 hours a week
