Primary Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Care Wash Manager, the Automotive Detailer is responsible for performing daily operational practices of running the car wash facility. Ensure we consistently turn out clean, dry and shiny vehicles.
Essential Functions:
- Assess vehicles to determine the need for cleaning and maintenance.
- Vacuum, clean and maintain vehicle interiors, including dashboards and consoles.
- Clean door trims and hinges.
- Vacuum carpet and car seats.
- Run vehicles through automatic vehicle washer.
- Ensure that vehicle windows and doors are properly secured before dusting and washing.
- Adjust water pressure in hoses to ensure that no damage occurs.
- Mix soap and water in appropriate quantities.
- Use cloth or sponge to soap vehicles and wash them down.
- Ensure that windscreens are not scratched during the soaping procedure.
- Hose down vehicles properly and make sure no trace of soap is left behind.
- Dust the interior of the vehicle and make sure that any trash is properly disposed.
- Polish interior surfaces and vacuum inside vehicle area.
- Make sure the roof of the vehicle is cleaned or wiped.
- Wax and polish the vehicle from the outside (if applicable).
- Ensure the vehicle is properly dried from the inside and the outside.
- Replace place mats after cleaning.
- Ensure that any accessories taken out of the vehicle during the vehicle wash procedures
are put back before handing the vehicle to the owner. - Clean wheels, rims and mudguards using a correct and safe mixture of soap and water.
- Look for small dents and scratches and undertake measures to minimize them.
- Ascertain that all windows are rolled up properly prior to vehicle going through vehicle washer.
- Shampoo and vacuum vehicle seats and other upholstery inside the vehicle (if applicable).
- Remove grease and stains using specialized grease removers and brushes.
- Wax, buff and polish vehicle interior and exteriors and remove any swirls found in the process.
- Apply revitalizers and preservation agents to leather surfaces to preserve and protect them.
- Verify that appropriate stickers such as number plates are attached to the vehicle and are not damaged or chipped.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and ensure procurement of supplies when inventory runs low.

Qualifications:
Car wash experience preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.
Most activities involve repetitive upper body movement and bending. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (unless otherwise restricted).
Must have good hand-eye coordination.
Typical Work Environment:
While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time but works primarily outdoors; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; If necessary, stools or chairs may be provided to allow employee to alternate between sitting and standing while performing job.
