Description
CDL Delivery Driver
The CDL Delivery Driver is responsible for the transportation of the Nursery's products to customers along with the transportation of other goods on behalf of the Nursery. These responsibilities place the driver in the position of being the "face of the nursery" in such a way that a high level of decorum and professionalism is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivery of plant shipments throughout the Pacific Northwest and surrounding area.
- Provide final link in quality control by ensuring proper plant quality, labeling, and accurate counts.
- Returning accurate, complete and legible paperwork.
- Ensuring proper and secure loading of plants, racks and trucks.
- Providing necessary customer service.
- Maintaining trucks & trailers in a clean, secure and well-organized condition.
- Performance of associated tasks and duties in a timely and efficient manner:
- The development of excellent plant identification skills.
- Availability to work long hours during our busy spring shipping season from early March to mid-May.
- Must be available 7 days a week, while staying within DOT regulations.
- Maintaining a professional attitude at all times.
- Coordinating and cooperating with other leaders/departments.
- Good recordkeeping.
- Nursery maintenance and construction tasks during the off season.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A valid class A CDL and good driving record.
- Nondrinker/smoker preferred.
- Energetic with good physical condition.
- Good communication skills.
- Competent, efficient and well organized.
- Willingness to make overnight stays.
Physical Requirements:
- Operate the truck in a safe manner.
- Manage the rolling racks (pushing and pulling up to 800lbs).
- Ability to drive long hours.
- Ability to maintain focus throughout long work days.
- Ability to lift and unload up to 50lbs repeatedly.
