Description
Certified Medical/Nursing Assistant
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Position will float between the Norton, VA and Castlewood, VA clinics

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification from an accredited Medical/Nursing Assistant program
- Current CMA, RMA, CNA, or CCMA certification and licensure
- Previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably in behavioral health, addiction medicine, or primary care
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
- Perform routine clinical tasks, including triage, taking vital signs, drawing blood, and collecting laboratory specimens.
- Support patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing lab specimens; disposing of contaminated supplies; telephone prescriptions to pharmacies; authorizing medication refills as directed by physician; drawing blood.
- Conduct patient education on health management, treatment plans, and preventive care.
- Greet and escort patients to examination rooms.
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, current symptoms, and other relevant information.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate referrals to specialists as needed.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying insurance information and collecting co-pays.
- Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and manage electronic communications.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and place orders as necessary.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the management and monitoring of patients receiving addiction treatment, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
- Provide support in behavioral health interventions, including patient screenings, assessments, and follow-up care.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Maintain safe and secure work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Serve and protect the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, procedures, and all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhance the health care facility's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
