Certified Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of healthcare providers in a medical office setting. The CMA is responsible for performing clinical and administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the office, ensuring compassionate and effective service to patients. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Certified Medical Assistant contributes to the overall patient experience and supports the medical team in delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Candidates must reside in the following states to be eligible for this role: NH, VT or RI.

Essential Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification: Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from a recognized certifying body (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA).

Licensure:

  • Association* accredited course in Basic Life Support (BLS) (for clinical staff), or Heartsaver CPR AED (for nonclinical staff), and renewal on a regular basis, with up to a three-month grace period after the expiration date.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and office software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Compassionate patient care skills and attention to detail.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience in a medical office environment is an advantage.
Essential Functions
  • Primary responsibilities include adding patient's medical history to the electronic medical record using past medical office notes and patient provided questionnaires. This role is critical in maintaining continuity of care by proactively requesting and integrating external medical histories, including past surgical notes, recent laboratory results, and diagnostic imaging from previous providers. Furthermore, the Medical Assistant must accurately document current medication lists, and flag known allergies or missing health screenings.
