Examples of Duties
Examples of Essential Duties
Under general supervision, drives a passenger bus to transport elderly, disabled, and rural residents of all ages to medical appointments, senior centers, or other activities within Baltimore County and Baltimore City.
- Operates a CountyRide bus to transport passengers to and from scheduled appointments and activities. Collects tickets and fees. Ensures that all funds are accounted for. Advises the operations dispatcher, via two way radio, of possible problems and/or special needs of passengers. Assists passengers in and out of vehicles. Informs passengers of available programs and services.
- Performs daily safety inspections of vehicles. Maintains cleanliness of vehicles. Prepares inspection reports. Prepares other related reports.
- Assists sick or injured passengers until emergency medical personnel arrive at the scene. Operates wheelchair lift and completes tie down procedure for all apparatus.

Required Qualifications
High School diploma or appropriate equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Entry Level)
Knowledge of traffic regulations.
Skill in the operation of motor vehicles.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read and follow road maps. Ability to keep simple records. Ability to deal courteously, patiently, and effectively with passengers. Ability to perform all safety exercises such as vehicle evacuations and tie down procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Full Performance)
Knowledge of County department locations. Knowledge of County geography.
Skill in reading and following detailed road maps. Skill in maintaining schedules. Skill in keeping simple records. Skill in preparing detailed incident reports. Skill in dealing courteously, patiently, and effectively with others, particularly senior adults. Skill in performing all safety exercises such as vehicle evacuations and tie down procedures.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-provisional, non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of application.
Age Requirement
Non-Maryland residents must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Conditions of Employment
Employees must satisfactorily complete County sponsored CPR and First Aid training, NIMS (National Incident Management System) and maintain certification throughout employment.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The position entails frequent operation of motor vehicles, driving in adverse weather conditions, and occasional heavy lifting.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen, and an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.

Salary
Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be granted as legislated.
Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.

Health Insurance
