Crane Operator

A Crane Operator is responsible for operating cranes to lift, move, position, and reposition loads safely and efficiently on construction sites. This role requires technical expertise, precision, and strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure smooth project operations. NCCCO or NCCER Certifications required. Essential duties include the ability to safely operate Friction Style Cranes, operate various types of cranes to lift and move heavy materials, conduct pre-operational inspections, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on crane equipment, interpret load charts and lift plans to determine crane capacity and weight distribution, work closely with riggers and signalers to execute lifts safely and efficiently, follow lift plans, site layouts, and engineering instructions to position loads accurately, maintain situational awareness to avoid hazards such as power lines, structures, or personnel, adhere to all OSHA and site-specific safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, timely completion of all crane-safety related documents, complete any other required logs, reports, and documentation related to crane operations, and assist with all general site duties when crane operations are not required.

Skills, knowledge, qualifications, and experience include 3+ years of experience operating cranes in a construction or heavy civil environment, strong knowledge of crane load charts, rigging techniques, and lifting procedures, proficiency in reading blueprints, lift plans, and site layouts, understanding of OSHA safety standards and crane operation regulations, excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness, ability to work in high-stress environments with a focus on precision and safety, physical stamina to sit for extended periods and operate controls with precision, able to pass NCDOT / SCDOT Medical Exam, and able to recertify and pass whichever Crane Operator Certification Program currently enrolled in.

Requirements include holding a valid NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) or equivalent certification, being 18 years of age or older, ability to pass a drug test, legally eligible to work in the U.S., reliable transportation to job sites, and willingness to work different shifts as required by project needs.
