SUMMARY

In this role, you will be responsible for originating, structuring, and managing a portfolio of commercial real estate loans for developer and investor clients. This role serves as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients and prospects, delivering customized financing solutions while ensuring credit quality, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Candidates will grow and maintain strong relationships with developers, investors, and referral partners across the Texas market. This position requires on-site work and the ability to travel for business purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | SKILLS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is required.
  • Completion of formal credit training at a respected financial institution preferred.
  • 12+ years of commercial real estate lending or CRE banking experience, with a demonstrated focus on origination and relationship management required.
  • Proven track record of sourcing and closing CRE transactions, both construction and term loans required.
  • Experience in administering construction loans and the draw process is required.
  • Experience managing a CRE portfolio and working directly with internal management and credit partners is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and superior communication skills (both oral and written) are required.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate finance, underwriting, and risk management.
  • Solid knowledge of Texas CRE markets and local sponsor landscape required.
  • Ability to analyze project financial statements, rent rolls, pro formas, and appraisal reports.
  • Ability to analyze guarantor financial statements and real estate schedules is required.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and client communication skills.
  • Prior experience managing a team is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deals and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and utilization of the internet is required.

HOURS OF AVAILABILITY: Regularly Scheduled Hours/Week: 40 (+) hours per week | Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm | *Extended working hours may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position is production-oriented and requires strong market knowledge, sponsor relationships, and the ability to independently originate new business while managing an existing portfolio.

Adhere to all department and company policies and procedures and follow applicable banking regulations.

  1. Originate new commercial real estate lending opportunities through direct sourcing, referrals, and relationships with developers, investors, brokers, attorneys, CPAs, and other intermediaries.
  2. Serve as the primary point of contact for CRE clients, providing strategic banking advice and long-term relationship management.
  3. Develop and maintain a strong local presence and referral network within the Texas commercial real estate market.
  4. Structure, negotiate, and execute commercial real estate transactions, including construction, bridge, term, and mini-perm loans across multiple asset classes.
  5. Conduct comprehensive deal analysis, including sponsor evaluation, property cash flow, market conditions, and collateral assessment.
  6. Prepare and present credit recommendations to internal credit committees, including loan memoranda and supporting documentation.
  7. Negotiate loan pricing, covenants, and closing conditions consistent with bank policies and risk appetite.
  8. Manage an assigned CRE loan and client portfolio, monitoring performance, financial reporting, covenant compliance, and overall credit quality.
  9. Proactively identify and mitigate emerging portfolio risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
  10. Partner with credit, underwriting, and loan operations teams to drive efficient deal execution, accurate booking, and timely closing.
  11. Stay informed on Texas commercial real estate market trends, including pricing, capitalization rates, and economic indicators.
  12. Represent the bank at industry events, conferences, and client functions to enhance brand presence and generate new business opportunities.
  13. Maintain compliance with all bank policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
  14. Protect all customer information and bank operations through strict confidentiality.
  15. Operate computer software and equipment, telephone, scanner, and copier, and develop proficiency with internal banking systems.
  16. Maintain a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, punctual attendance, and the ability to work on-site with occasional extended hours when necessary.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Possess sufficient mobility to work in a standard office setting. Perform repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and finger movements while handling currency, documents, and/or office equipment. Substantial time may be spent on the telephone, operating computers, reaching, sitting, and/or standing while occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must have the ability to speak and hear well enough to carry on customer interactions, conversations, and presentations both in person and over telecommunications. Have near/far visual acuity to identify customers, currency, and reading materials in printed or electronic formats. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Maintain a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle that can be used for business travel purposes.
