Credentialing And Contracting Specialist

The Credentialing And Contracting Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare providers meet all necessary credentialing requirements and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end credentialing process, including verifying provider qualifications, licenses, and certifications to facilitate timely participation in insurance networks. The specialist also negotiates, reviews, and manages contracts between healthcare providers and insurance companies or other third-party payers to optimize reimbursement and service delivery. By maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, the specialist supports operational efficiency and helps mitigate risks associated with non-compliance. Ultimately, this role ensures that providers are properly credentialed and contracted, enabling seamless patient access to care and reimbursement processes across the United States healthcare system.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of credentialing standards, regulatory requirements, and insurance contracting processes.
  • Proficiency with credentialing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the credentialing process for healthcare providers, including primary source verification of licenses, certifications, and education.
  • Prepare, review, and submit credentialing applications to insurance companies, managed care organizations, and other payers.
  • Negotiate, review, and manage provider contracts to ensure favorable terms and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized credentialing and contracting records in compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with providers, insurance representatives, and internal teams to resolve credentialing and contracting issues promptly.
  • Monitor credentialing expiration dates and initiate re-credentialing processes to maintain continuous provider participation.
  • Assist in auditing credentialing files and processes to ensure adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.
