Position Overview The position is responsible for leading a team and promoting quality service. The position is tasked with covering other positions as needed, performing specialty area work and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Duties may include:

  • Perform basic cleaning, sanitization and trash collection in and around residences halls and university buildings
  • Ensure that assigned areas remain organized
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Notify occupants of cleaning and floor maintenance schedules
  • Maintain clean and clear walkways, ensuring they are free of debris, litter, snow and ice
  • Respond to emergencies and assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service
  • Communicate equipment/supplies problems and necessary building repairs to supervisors
  • Ensure that all assigned rooms and buildings are opened and locked as scheduled
  • Train new employees
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Required Experience One year performing custodial duties, including working with industrial cleaning chemicals and heavy-duty cleaning equipment

Required Education None

Required Other Possess a valid driver's license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles Be at least 18 years of age

Additional Preferred Experience training, supervising or directing the work of others

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must be able to:

  • Climb ladders, bend and stoop
  • Lift, carry or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
  • Work in inclement weather conditions
