Part-Time Custodian - Specific Hours Tbd

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Previous custodial or maintenance experience (helpful but not always required)
• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment
• Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs
• Physical ability to lift, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Dependable, punctual, and strong attention to detail

Major Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors (including waxing or buffing)
• Empty trash and dispose of waste properly
• Sanitize high-touch surfaces to maintain hygiene
• Restock supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
• Perform minor repairs (light bulbs, leaks, basic upkeep)
• Set up and break down furniture for school events and activities
• Maintain outdoor areas (sidewalks, entrances, grounds)
• Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to administration
• Assist with opening and closing the building when needed

Safety Responsibilities

• Follow proper procedures for handling and storing cleaning chemicals
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves or masks when required
• Identify and report hazards (spills, broken equipment, unsafe conditions)
• Ensure floors are safe and dry to prevent slips and falls
• Follow school safety and emergency protocols (fire drills, lockdowns, etc.)
• Maintain clear exits and hallways at all times
• Properly use and maintain cleaning equipment to prevent injury
• Follow OSHA and district safety guidelines
