Custodian (Multiple Positions Available)

Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

High School Diploma or GED Preferred

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures

Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment

Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies

One year experience in custodial services (preferred)

Maintains a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, walls, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms.

Keeps school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas neat and clean.

Complies with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.

Assists in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and orders additional supplies as needed.

Assists with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.

Performs preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health and safety of students and staff.

Makes minor building repairs as needed and reports major repair needs to building administrator.

Moves furniture or equipment within building as directed by building administrator.

Assists in setting up facilities for special events.

Assists with opening and closing building each school day.

Follows established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities.

Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.

Inspects machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.

Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

Complies with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule and board policy.

Complies with all district and campus routines and regulations.

Maintains confidentiality.

Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Operations.

Other duties as assigned.
