Day Care Coordinator

The Day Care Coordinator is responsible to provide child care and educates children in the Cocopah Day Care. Main duties include but not limited to teaching fundamental learning skills, and help children build their social and emotional skills.

Mental demands/Physical demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids or tissues. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Job requires sitting for a long period (during planning and reporting) and standing for long periods (during observations and training), as well as stooping, squatting, running, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. A moderate amount of driving is required. Exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains ongoing, open communication with parents and caregivers.
  • Ensures that each family receives an opportunity to build strong relationships with teaching staff.
  • Provides an environment that encourages parent participation.
  • Plans periodical parent conferences to discuss children's developmental progress, needs, and interests.
  • Collaborates with children's families to ensure a smooth transition from home to a Child Care setting.
  • Creates weekly plans and implement an age-appropriate curriculum that nurtures and stimulates all domains of each child's development in their care.
  • Provides a developmentally appropriate environment that reflects the children's learning and growth.
  • Guides and facilitate activities of the children, including daily activities, field trips, selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the Day Care.
  • Works with Director, Lead Coordinator, Aide and volunteers to use and develop their skills and abilities in planning and carrying out classroom activities.
  • Cooperates with other staff and Day Care groups to maintain the smooth functioning of the center, which at times may require changes to meet the needs of the children.
  • Guides children's acquisition of social skills.
  • Attends staff training and meetings, and board and parent meetings as requested.
  • Performs ongoing developmental evaluations of children as required.
  • Uses the playground as an extension of the Day Care; assures that the playground is safe.
  • Assists in conducting the daily health and environment checklist.
  • Completes and submit required forms and records in a timely and accurate fashion, e.g., lesson plans, meal reports, etc.
  • Assists with all necessary cleaning duties.
  • Others duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children in their classrooms.
  • Provide basic needs for children.
  • Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with children and parents.
  • Manage classroom activities including lessons, play, breaks, and meals.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, children, parents/guardians, and the public.
  • Be flexible and able to meet challenges as they arise.
  • Be punctual to meet a timely schedule.
  • Training in early childhood instructions.
  • Experience in early childhood setting.

Qualifications:

  • Valid fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must submit to a yearly physical, TB skin test.
  • Ability to obtain Health Card.
  • Valid AZ Driver's License.
  • Must be COVID-19 vaccinated or must obtain prior to the completion of the first 120-day training period.
  • Testing may be required.
  • Education and/or Experience: Associates degree in related field is preferred, completion of trade school, professional or technical certification, specialized training. 3-years work experience in related field or 2-years supervisory work experience.
