Summary
Provide a broad range of support for radiology technologist and provider communications including, but not limited to: assembling orders and exam worksheets, retrieving prior records/outside images, sending images and reports to outside facilities, recordkeeping, assist with patient transport when requested and special project work as necessary.
Job Duties

Take calls and answers questions about Radiology patients with regards to the linking of orders between Centricity and HMS. *

Check patients into Radiology verifying face-sheet demographics, assembling applicable orders and worksheets for the patient exam. *

Notifies techs including CT, US, MRI, Echo, Mammo and Diagnostic when patients arrived for their exam.*

Escort patients having procedures to SDS for nurses to complete pre-procedural workup.*

Escort patients to Lab PRN for pre-exam tests.*

Assist with retrieving prior records and outside images before exam for Radiologist to have for comparison. *

Verify procedures with OPS, Infusion Therapy and surgery . *

Prints out orders for daily exams placing in the appropriate modality slot.*

Verify orders in Athena and Fast Path outside physician orders.*

Completes follow-up communication on all cancellations and "no-shows" with Front Desk according to guidelines. *

Transfers images and reports via image links, DICOM pushing and fax to/from external facilities as requested by MLHS providers/staff, patient or outside provider in a timely manner. *

Answer calls from providers, nurses or patients with questions transferring to necessary Radiology staff. *

Participates in at least 75% of department meetings. *

Required Education and Experience
-
High School diploma or equivalent; courses elated to the position preferred.

Must have knowledge of secretarial, office administrative procedures and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment.
Preferred Education and Experience
-
Medical Secretary Certification or coursework desired.
-
Previous experience with hospital EMR and PACS systems a plus.
-
Have at least 1-2 years of direct experience working in a healthcare setting with preference for Radiology.
