Description
Donor Specialist
Under the supervision of the Sr Director of Donor Engagement, the Donor Specialist is responsible for operating large delivery vehicles within the areas served by Goodwill to deliver and or collect goods, as directed. Essential functions and major responsibilities include upholding the mission, vision, and values while conducting home pickups throughout the southeast Georgia area. The Donor Specialist must operate vehicles while maintaining safety standards, utilize independent judgment and knowledge to accept saleable donations, and assign corresponding prices to high-ticket items secured. They must maintain records of pickups to correlate with goods received, ensure maintenance checks/safety standards are complete and accurate for all equipment and vehicles, and maintain a schedule to complete home pickups. The role also includes providing supervision and oversight of the donation attendant assigned to the program, handling, loading, unloading, and securing goods in a manner which protects goods, donors, and associates, and providing first-level customer support to resolve customer service complaints or issues. The Donor Specialist works in coordination with administrative support specialist and senior director of donor engagement to build, maintain, and monitor the schedule of home pickups. They must adhere to all driving rules and regulations, report motor vehicle violations within 24 hours, and report all property damage immediately and complete written accident reports. The Donor Specialist must use appropriate safety and protective equipment as necessary, maintain an acceptable attendance and punctuality record, and be able to understand and follow training instructions.
Qualifications and special skills required include a high school graduate or general education degree (GED) preferred with a minimum 6-12 months commercial truck driving experience or any job-related experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. A valid Georgia driver's license (Class C), with a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's insurance company's standards, is required. The Donor Specialist must be able to read maps and other written directions, have good communication skills, follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures, work with minimal supervision, maintain good relationships with customers and co-workers, and understand and follow training instructions.
