EHS Technician

The EHS Technician is responsible for supporting and enforcing the organization's environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a strong safety culture. This role conducts inspections, investigations, and risk assessments; supports environmental reporting; and collaborates closely with internal departments and contractors to reduce risk and prevent incidents.

Safety Inspections & Monitoring

• Conducts routine facility health and safety inspections to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors

• Performs daily walkthroughs in support of the EHS program

• Evaluates contractor safety performance and compliance as required

• Investigates areas of non-conformance to EHS programs and communicates findings to management

• Performs process safety start-up inspections for new or modified products and processes

Incident Investigation & Corrective Action Management

• Reports, investigates, and documents, safety incidents and near misses

• Determines root causes and develops recommendations for corrective and preventive actions

• Ensures corrective actions are implemented and verified following incidents or near misses

• Tracks and reports incident trends to support continuous improvement initiatives

Risk Assessment & Hazard Analysis

• Completes Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments as needed

• Identifies potential hazards associated with tasks, equipment, and processes

• Recommends engineering, administrative, or PPE controls to mitigate identified risks

Industrial Hygiene & Exposure Monitoring

• Conducts industrial hygiene sampling in accordance with program requirements

• Coordinates monitoring for noise, air contaminants, and other occupational exposures

• Reviews sampling results and supports follow-up actions as needed

Regulatory Compliance & Program Administration

• Facilitates the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program and ensures compliance with applicable regulations

• Supports environmental reporting requirements, permits, and documentation as needed

• Assists with audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries

Communication & Safety Culture

• Communicates regularly with production, maintenance, engineering, and other departments to promote safe behaviors

• Provides safety-related guidance and feedback to employees and supervisors

• Helps reinforce a proactive, accountable safety culture across the facility

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing setting with demonstrated knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) principles, applicable safety regulations, and security operations within a business or industrial environment.

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports; to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

• Ability to learn cGMP, QA program and Safety programs
