Empowered Choice Program Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Empowered Services is a one-on-one attendant care agency providing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support and community-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Through our Empowered Choice Program (ECP), individuals receiving services can choose a trusted friend or family member to become their paid Direct Support Professional (DSP).

We are hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) through our Friends & Family Caregiver Program.

This is a non-traditional caregiving role where you support someone you already know and are connected to (friend, family member, or trusted individual) who:

• Is part of the I/DD community
• Has a Service Coordinator
• Qualifies for in-home support services through Medicaid

You will provide 1:1, person-centered care while Empowered Services manages payroll, onboarding, and compliance.

This position is for Oregon residents only. You must be selected by the individual receiving services. Hours are based on state-authorized service plans. This is not a traditional client assignment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing ADL support (hygiene, meals, mobility, daily routines)
• Assisting with medication reminders or support (as applicable)
• Supporting community access (appointments, errands, activities)
• Encouraging independence and skill development
• Following the individual's approved service plan
• Maintaining professional boundaries and clear communication
• Accurately documenting services and daily activities
• Ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment

Compensation options include:

Option 1:

• $25.00/hour
• No authorized overtime

Option 2:

• $22.00/hour
• Up to 20 hours of overtime authorized per week
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half ($33.00/hour)
• Up to 60 total hours per week (based on eligibility and approval)

Qualifications include:

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be chosen by the individual receiving services
• Ability to pass a background check through the State of Oregon (not all records are disqualifying)
• Ability to communicate effectively and work independently
• Comfortable providing personal care support
