Position Overview

The EHS Specialist is responsible for building and executing the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) system at PGH.

This is an entry-level, high-impact role for a hands-on builder who will:

  • Establish foundational EHS systems in the first 90 days.
  • Transition into execution and culture-building across the organization.

This role is important to ensure compliance, protecting our people, and enabling PGH to operate with Exellence all the time.

Accountabilities:

Build & Maintain EHS System:

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve PGH's EHS systems, including policies, SOPs, documentation, and compliance frameworks.

Ensure Regulatory & Audit Compliance:

  • Own compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and SMETA requirements, including:
    • OSHA 300 logs.
  • Documentation readiness.
  • Audit support and corrective actions.

Lead Incident Reporting & Investigations:

Ensure all incidents are:

  • Reported immediately.
  • Properly documented.
  • Investigated for root cause.
  • Followed by corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Drive Safety Culture Adoption:

Embed a Safety First culture by:

  • Training employees and supervisors.
  • Reinforcing safe behaviors.
  • Coaching teams to take ownership of safety.

Monitor, Report & Improve EHS Performance:

  • Track and report key metrics:
    • Incident rates.
    • Near misses.
    • Safety compliance.
    • Environmental metrics.
  • Use data to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Phase 1: Build (First 90 Days):

  • Develop EHS policies and procedures.
  • Implement incident reporting system.
  • Establish OSHA compliance processes.
  • Build documentation and tracking systems.
  • Close SMETA-related gaps.
  • Integrate EHS into onboarding and SOPs.

Phase 2: Execute & Scale:

  • Conduct safety audits and inspections.
  • Deliver training across all shifts.
  • Lead incident investigations.
  • Monitor compliance and performance.
  • Partner with operations to improve safety outcomes.

Environment:

  • Develop environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Monitor waste handling and environmental impact.
  • Support sustainability and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong attention management & documentation skills.
  • Ability to work hands-on in plant and field environments.
  • Assertiveness in communication and influence skills.
  • Builder mindset: able to create systems from scratch.
  • Bilingual, English & Spanish.

Compensation (Cochise, AZ):

  • $55,000 - $65,000 base salary & 10% target bonus.
  • Time off: 10 days for PTO & 9 company paid holidays.
