CDL Class A Driver

Important Requirement: Applicants must hold a valid CDL-A (Commercial Driver's License Class A) to be considered for this position. Please do not apply if you do not currently possess a CDL-A license or if your license is expired.

Position Summary

We are looking for a reliable CDL Class A Driver to join our poultry operations team. You will operate commercial trucks to deliver bedding/shavings, transport poultry litter and compost materials, and support other farm and feed operations as needed. This is a full-time, hands-on role that requires flexibility, safety awareness, and strong communication skills.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

1. Vehicle Operation & Safety

  • Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in proper working order.
  • Collect delivery instructions and verify routes as needed.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or any damage.
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to communicate with dispatch, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including adding oil, fuel, radiator fluid, or completing minor repairs.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers by adjusting trailer jacks, connecting/disconnecting air or electrical lines, and securing fifth-wheel locks.
  • Crank trailers landing gear up or down to safely secure vehicles.
  • Read and interpret maps to determine appropriate routes.
  • Load and unload trucks or assist others, using any required loading-related equipment.

2. Litter Amendment & Composting Operations

  • Drive and operate the litter amendment truck (F-600).
  • Transport and operate poultry composting equipment.
  • Assist with transporting and moving poultry litter and compost materials.
  • Support waste-management and material-handling tasks.
  • Follow all safety and biosecurity protocols on farm properties.

3. Poultry Litter Treatment (PLT) Support

  • Assist with handling and transporting materials related to poultry litter treatment.
  • Maintain awareness of litter-management practices to ensure proper barn conditions.

4. General Duties

  • Coordinate with dispatch and operations regarding schedules.
  • Follow all federal, state, and company safety regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age with 2 years of driving experience.

Valid CDL Class A license with current medical card.

Must provide an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) from the license branch.

Must pass a driving test.

Must maintain current license and DOT physical documents.

Must comply with DOT-required random drug testing.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks.

Strong reliability and communication skills.

Must comply with seat belt and company safety rules

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Must have good attendance

Possess Class A CDL

No Final disciplinary warnings within 6 months.

Communication, Oral Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.

Communication, written Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in agricultural or poultry operations.

Experience with shavings, manure handling, composting, or farm logistics.

Knowledge of biosecurity practices in livestock environments.
