Job Summary
The US Dept. of Labor under a grant agreement with the Texas Workforce Commission- Workforce Alamo, has provided funding to support Long-Term Recovery operations in Kerr County. Positions listed for the City of Kerrville are one-year, grant-funded positions to support disaster recovery implementation. Kerr County residents are encouraged to apply for the listed positions related to disaster recovery activities. No guarantee of employment beyond the grant terms is implied or guaranteed.
Job Summary:
This position is a grant funded position and part of the Finance Department. The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting overall financial operations by performing duties in compliance with governmental accounting practices, internal policies and laws.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform daily accounting functions such as journal entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Perform various types of reconciliations
- Reconcile expenditures for and ensure compliance of state and federal grants
- Perform research as needed to support budget and other analytical needs
- Create comprehensive analytical reports using Microsoft Excel and other platforms
- Provide support to internal departments
- Assist with records retention and digital organization of records
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Abilities:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping.
- Basic knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation.
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Ability to maintain a sense of urgency in all duties.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and image.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
- Computer and related software, printer, calculator, copier, fax.
Education, Certification and Experience Required:
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent with some accounting of bookkeeping experience.
- Possession of a valid Texas Class C driver's license.
Special Requirements or Notice:
- Must be bondable.
- One year, grant funded position only.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Duties are generally performed in an office setting. Some light work requiring occasional lifting objects up to 20 pounds to move objects. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Work may also require stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
