Position Summary

The Food Sanitation Specialist is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards within the dining facility. This position performs general housekeeping duties, sets up and cleans food service areas, operates and maintains equipment, and supports meal service operations. All duties are performed in accordance with applicable regulations, including TB MED 530, TM 4-41.11, and the Performance Work Statement (PWS).

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the dining facility is cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis.

Perform all cleaning tasks according to established cleaning schedules.

Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

Follow proper procedures, temperatures, and time requirements during food preparation and service.

Clean and maintain dining areas, dishwashing rooms, pot and pan areas, self-service areas, and exterior areas.

Set up serving lines, garnish food items, and serve meals during designated meal periods.

Maintain self-service items, ice, and beverages throughout meal service.

Clean and sanitize dinnerware, utensils, trays, and food contact surfaces to ensure continuous availability.

Clean and sanitize equipment and utensils using mechanical, manual, or in-place methods.

Remove trash and recycling to designated disposal areas and maintain recycling containers.

Assist with storage of subsistence items as needed.

Identify and report equipment malfunctions or repair needs for work orders.

Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and access areas when required.

Maintain proper food service uniforms and required safety gear, including hair restraints and slip-resistant footwear.

Continuously work toward proficiency in assigned duties.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge of food service sanitation and cleaning procedures preferred.

Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Ability to bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work in extreme weather conditions when required.

Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
